These objectives and values ​​form the basis of the European Union and are established in the Treaty of Lisbon and the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU.


In 2012, the EU received the Nobel Peace Prize for its contribution to advancing peace, reconciliation, democracy and human rights in Europe.
